Bond Bound: Ian Fleming and the Art of Cover Design exhibition opens in Edinburgh on 5 July 2008 after its display at The Fleming Collection, Mayfair, London.

Readers and collectors of the 15 James Bond novels will appreciate the role of the artwork wrapped around the popular spy thriller novels. Tuuli Shipster, the model on the hardback cover design for Devil May Care (published 28 May 2008 by Doubleday in the US) arrived at the HMS Exeter at Tower Bridge London launch by Penguin with seven copies of the first James Bond novel in over 40 years for signing by Devil May Care author Sebastian Faulks.

Published today -100 years since the birth of James Bond creator Ian Fleming – the art of the cover design for the latest book, Devil May Care by Sebastian Faulks will be closely examined for the qualities of the first fourteen written by Ian Fleming, published between 1953 and 1966:

Original artwork by Ian Fleming is currently on display at The Fleming Collection, Mayfair, London in the exhibition Bond Bound: Ian Fleming and the Art of Cover Design. The travelling exhibition opens at City Art Centre, Edinburgh on July 27, 2008 for a Summer Season in Scotland until August 30, 2008 before the Bond Bound : Ian Fleming and the Art of Cover Design exhibition of Bond cover design and a social history of publishing James Bond novels leaves for its international travels.

As part of the Ian Fleming Centenary 1908-2008, the 14 Fleming Bond novels are also being published as new hardback editions with cover art design by Michael Gillette and Jon Gray. The Ian Fleming Centenary Year 2008 is offering new Bond readers a visual carnival and choice of original cover art in the Bond Bound: Ian Fleming and the Art of Cover Design exhibition and fresh designs of Ian Fleming’s original Bond novels and Sebastian Faulks’ new James Bond book.
