London's O2 Bubble is Hosting a Major Show of Pop Star's Memorabilia

Jackson memorabilia on display at London's 02 Bubble includes over 250 items from the Neverland Ranch such as the famous sequinned glove, clothing and a Rolls Royce car.

London's 02 Bubble is fast becoming one of the capital's most popular exhibition venues. Following the successful Tutankhamun exhibition the Bubble is now hosting Michael Jackson – The Official Exhibition.

When Michael Jackson (Michael Joseph Jackson – 29th August 1959-25th June 2009) died unexpectedly the world witnessed an unprecedented outpouring of grief. As everyone knows, at the time of his death, Jackson was preparing for a series of concerts scheduled to start on 13th July 2009 at London's O2 Bubble.

Instead of the planned concerts fans now have the opportunity to view more than 250 of the pop star's personal effects in an exhibition curated by The GRAMMY Museum.

The Administrators of the Jackson Estate, John Branca and John McClain, who said: “Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition will let Michael’s fans celebrate his life, artistry and humanitarian efforts in a way that respects and honours his legacy.”

Both publicly and privately Michael Jackson was one of the entertainment world's most notorious figures. His incredible mix of music, dance, fashion, showmanship and spectacle made him one of the most important personalities in show business history.

Motown, The Jackson 5 and This is It at O2 Bubble

Michael Jackson – The Official Exhibition highlights important events in Jackson's life such as his Motown career and his time with The Jackson 5. The display goes on to explore his solo career and the concerts – This is It – planned for London's O2 arena. The show, which also highlights his humanitarian efforts, is divided into sections including:

  • Motown
  • Solo Career
  • Dancing
  • Costumes
  • Humanitarian
  • Celebration

Neverland Archives Opened

Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition features some of Jackson's most intimate possessions, many of which have not been available for close public inspection before. Items have come from the Neverland Ranch, Jackson's video vault and concert collections. The Neverland crest takes pride of place.

The Official Exhibition includes an original Jackson 5 contract, a number of portraits commissioned by the artist, his personal Rolls Royce and the famous sequinned glove.

Michael Jackon's Costumes

The show features the largest ever publicly displayed collection of Jackson's concert and video costumes, such as a jacket worn to the American Music Awards, a jacket designed by Zaldy for the This is It tour and a recreation of a jacket worn in the 14-minute movie, Thriller, produced in 1983. Thriller was reputed to be the most expensive music video of its time, and one of the most commercially successful, selling in excess of nine million copies.

Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition will be on view until the end of January 2010. Tickets and further details can be obtained from Michael Jackson Exhibition. Once the exhibition closes in January it will tour to two additional destinations, still to be announced.
